Alex, For a simple cgi installation, all you need is the standalone engine for linux. Pick the 3.5 one. There was a recent thread on this list where Jacque gave us some download links (with permission). Remember to invoke the cgi engine with the "-ui" option not to load X11 & Friends.
I know RevServer has some of the URL calls but I never tried raw sockets with it.
