Sorry that this PR didn't get attention at the time it was submitted, but it's
lacking useful info. Particularly,
- what you did after booting the installation image,
- what changed in the MBR.
Obviously an installation image isn't supposed to modify disks unless
requested. If you can reproduce this with a modern version of FreeBSD and
provide some details, please re-open the bug report.
