I've had a look at the Deja Dup interface and have some ideas as to how this could be done. I'm pretty busy at the moment, but I'll try and find some time to look at this. A good way to start would be to set up a wiki page for the UI review and to seed it with screenshots of the current GUI along with the points raised by Matthias. Once we've got that we can create some mockups (it would be nice to share those as SVGs). It seems likely that a profile creation/first run wizard will be required, so it might be nice to start thinking about the steps required for that. Hope that helps!
