We have alt-f4 (as well as clicking the WM's close button), which waits
a little while for the application to respond, and when it doesn't, pops
up a force-quit window... it would be nice if it could detect
non-responding applications instantly, but that might be infeasible.
Compiz tries, but I don't think it does a very good job of dimming the
right applications.
