even on a 2560x1024, screen real estate is scarce and should not be wasted.

screenshots of a user app at
http://panospace.wordpress.com/2008/03/23/gnome-is-too-big-indeed/

on a 2560x1024 display. same app, once in Windows and once in Gnome.

I experience the same with Firefox (less browsing space in Gnome), with
Thunderbird (more spacing in the list of recipient) and any other app.

Gnome / Ubuntu default theme wastes a lot of scarce and very valuable
screen real estate to an average user with 20/20 vision

those with better than average suffer even more.
