because of differences of ipx files structure in /proc between kernel
2.4 and 2.6, e.g:
in kernel 2.4:
/proc/net/ipx_route
in kernel 2.6:
/proc/net/ipx/route
ipxripd (current version 0.7-13.1) can't run with 2.6
