From 11.10 to 12.04, I heard no changes. Changing the Firefox platform source code is hard. Changing the Ubuntu platform source code is hard. Changing Firefox by creating add-ons is: unlimited, brilliantly-thought by the W3C that created the Web, Javascript and XML DOM. Changing Unity by creating apps is: limited, you can only do what Unity previously-allowed you to do, which is to fill Unity's slots with your app's icons.
