The same way you accidentally trigger the Launcher. For example you are reading something on screen and the mouse is in the way so you (without thinking) move the mouse off to the left to get it out of the way and because the mouse lands on top of the launcher, Thumbnail previews start popping up. I do accidentally trigger the tooltips, all the time. Be nice to be able to disable Launcher tooltips. They aren't needed once familiarity sets in. But I can certainly see how they are needed on new installs in general. In general, things popping up on the desktop is a big distraction to work. I find the thumbnail popups distracting when using windows 7. I can only assume it would present the same problem on ubuntu.
