Title:
  24.04 & 24.10 installers break LVM, deactivating all vg's, AND can't
install into a non-VM partition in the same system, either.

Status in Calamares:

Status in calamares package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
This was the installer for Lubuntu 24.04 LTS AND in the installer for
  Lubuntu 24.10.

Lubuntu & Ubuntu use the same installer, so it should apply across the
  entire Ubuntu family.

  ---

( the install-images exclude mdadm, which is also a bug: that HAS to
be available without internet during any install/rescue, from the
  live-DVD images )

Manual partitioning, TRYING & failing to install into an LVM lv, whose
pv is on an underlying mdadm raid1 pair ( with 1 member using -W, or
Write-Mostly, since it's MUCH slower than the other, but redundancy's
important, given that some devices fail, inevitably )

So, in the manual-partitioning, I told it to use a normal-partition
  for EFI ( 320MiB ), and for GRUB2 ( 64MiB ), a normal partition for
swap ( bigger than RAM, of course ), & to use a nice 100GB LVM lv for
installing into, that I'd already prepared..

However, once it got going, it broke everything, by DEACTIVATING all
  volume-groups, & then, of course, the install-target didn't exist,
  anymore..

The error it gave was, in a popup-box, this:

  "Main script file /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/calamares/modules/mount/main.py for python job mount raised an
  exception."

  ---

OK, so it's coded to destroy attempts-to-install-into-LVM..

Can it install into a normal partition, in the same system?

No, it can't. This time it crashed in the "fstab" module:

  "Main script file /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/calamares/modules/fstab/main.py for python job fstab raised an
  exception."

  ---

Obviously this forces people studying to be competent sysadmins to ..
  switch to another distro.

Mint worked, btw, having both mdadm & LVM in the install-image and
  working properly.

However, you'd never know if nobody who hit the bug told you, so ..
  here the info is.

  Kaizen,
