Hi Reuben, It's mostly copypasta, to be honest. Just trying to close bugs that aren't relevant anymore, especially considering we have bugs that have decade-old stacktraces that don't help solve problems anymore. Rest assured, though, the bug is most likely fixed in the latest versions of Audacity, just not this particular version of this package which isn't even available in Ubuntu's repositories anymore, but a much newer version.
Also, to be honest, the copypasta is meant for newer bugs that are filed against these old packages, so it's possible that some better wording could be created.
