* Remove studio-controls from default panel * Add patchance to default panel * Add ubuntustudio-pulseaudio-config metapackage (LP: #2008025) -- Erich Eickmeyer <eeickme...@ubuntu.com> Sat, 11 Mar 2023 08:19:59 -0800 ** Changed in: ubuntustudio-default-settings (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Studio Bugs, which is subscribed to studio-controls in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2008025 Title: [FFe] pipewire/pulseaudio configs for ubuntustudio in lunar Status in studio-controls package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in ubuntustudio-default-settings package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: This is a preemptive Feature Freeze Exception for Studio Controls. I have just been informed by the lead of Studio Controls and part of the Ubuntu Studio team, Len Ovens, that he has suffered some health issues. This means that the version of Studio Controls needed for compatibility with Pipewire will not be ready in time for Lunar Lobster Feature Freeze on 2023-02-23. The features intended include a switch to disable/enable user-level systemd services for pipewire-pulse and pulseaudio in addition to the pipewire-jack backend and the starting/stopping of native JACK. Unfortunately, these components are not yet ready and Len is not well enough as of 2023-02-21 to get them ready in 2 days or have even something demonstrable. This FFe will hopefully buy enough time for Len to finish and then we can work out bugs later. It is unfortunate that we must work around his health on this, but I was only just told of this unfortunate happening today. Do note that this package is only seeded in Ubuntu Studio. Diffs and changelogs to be included at a later date when we have something. ------------- Update: studio-controls will not make it in time, so we will be removing it from Ubuntu Studio by default. Instead, it will be installed via a metapackage (ubuntustudio-pulseaudio-config) that breaks the ubuntustudio-pipewire-config package which restores Ubuntu Studio to its traditional pulseaudio state. If ubuntustudio-pipewire-config is ever reinstalled, it will uninstall ubuntustudio-pulseaudio-config which will restore Ubuntu Studio to its default Pipewire state. Simple metapackage in ubuntustudio-default-settings debian/control follows: Package: ubuntustudio-pulseaudio-config Architecture: all Pre-Depends: dpkg (>= 1.15.7.2~) Depends: ${misc:Depends}, pulseaudio, pulseaudio-module-jack Recommends: studio-controls Breaks: ubuntustudio-pipewire-config, pipewire-pulse, pipewire-jack, wireplumber Description: Deconfigures Pipewire on Ubuntu Studio This metapackage simply removes the default pipewire integration and reinstalls the traditional pulseaudio configuration. Reinstalling ubuntustudio-pipewire-config removes this package and changes the configuration back to default. This package will be installable via the GUI ubuntustudio-installer.
