Unable to render Roboto font needed for Guitarix UI

Bug description:
I get tofu for every glyph written on modules in the rack, and lots of
Pango warnings in the console about not being able to render Roboto.
See the attached screenshot.
This is on a fresh-ish install of 16.10.
