That version of inkscape wants python2, but please don't randomly create symlinks, there is a "python-is-python2" package for it (likewise, there is also a python-is-python3 package). Formally, neither of them is supported, and everything from within the official archive must not use either of them. ** Description changed: - When trying to use Python extensions I get the following error message - in the console: + [ Inpact ] + * Python extensions don't start (unless python-is-python2 + is installed) - Can't Spawn!!! spawn returns: Failed to execute child process “” (No - such file or directory) + [ Test Case ] + * open inkscape + * try to run Extensions → Text → Lorem ipsum → Apply (just as an example) - This seems to be caused by a missing /usr/bin/python. It works if I - create a symlink, but I'm not sure if Inkscape expects python2 or - python3. + without this update or pyhon-is-python2 nothing happens (a quick error + windows appear and disappears, on the console it says - ProblemType: Bug - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 - Package: inkscape 0.92.5-1ubuntu1 - ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-31.35-generic 5.4.34 - Uname: Linux 5.4.0-31-generic x86_64 - ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 - Architecture: amd64 - CasperMD5CheckResult: skip - CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME - Date: Sat May 23 22:46:18 2020 - EcryptfsInUse: Yes - SourcePackage: inkscape - UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to focal on 2020-04-24 (29 days ago) + Can't Spawn!!! spawn returns: Failed to execute child process “” + (No such file or directory) + + [ Regression Potential ] + * Running python extensions can't really get any worse. ** Tags removed: amd64 ** Also affects: inkscape (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: High Assignee: Mattia Rizzolo (mapreri) Status: In Progress ** Also affects: inkscape (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: inkscape (Ubuntu Groovy) Status: In Progress => Fix Released ** Changed in: inkscape (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: High => Undecided ** Changed in: inkscape (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: inkscape (Ubuntu Focal) Assignee: (unassigned) => Mattia Rizzolo (mapreri) ** Changed in: inkscape (Ubuntu Focal) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Studio Bugs, which is subscribed to inkscape in Ubuntu.
