might be workarounds for those still affected - and forget about nomodeset!:
-on fedora 14 use lxrandr to set a different resolution and then switch back to (eg 1400x800/Auto for me)... was stable for 2 hours... then I tried.. -vanilla 2.6.37-rc2 on fedora 14. no problems with flickering or lines (never had pink world) for about 30min now... maybe this is already fixed. second option might be interesting for ubuntu users as well.
