Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Booting the install disk is only possible if "nomodeset" is selected on startup. It is possible to install, but when I boot the installed system I can't even get to the desktop to install the fglrx drivers. The system hangs with an ACPI error message on the console. The motherboard is advertised as capable of supporting crossfire, and my power supply is certainly hefty enough, (1000W) but the configuration fails to boot. I can get a bit further if I enable "nomodeset" on grub after the install, but the system then hard hangs with a couple of a messages something like: [Radeon ####:0000 ACPI error] The same thing happens if I boot the rescue system. I am able to install normally if I remove one of the HD5970 cards. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot boot with 2xHD5970 in crossfire on GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
