Long term ubuntu user here... same issue with nVidia GTS360M on Maverick release.
To get your clean Maverick install booting: In the grub boot menu edit the "recovery mode" option by hitting "e", add "nomodeset" to the last line. Ctrl-x to boot. At the recovery menu choose "root". Install the nvidia binary drivers by typing: "apt-get install nvidia-current" Reboot and enjoy an otherwise flawless install. -- Ubuntu 10.10 wont start strange image https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/654178 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
