I am on a Compaq nc6320 with 945GM/GMS 943/940GML and yesterday i upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 As posted above, i had the same problem with my dual monitor setup. A little twinkle with xrandr doen't solve the problem for me, but i was close. I had a one-and-a-half monitor setup :)
So i tried the xorg-edgers and whoah, it works like charm!!!
