I would characterise the behaviour of the mouse as stick. Once the 'mouse-down' is detected, the 'mouse up' is delayed causing a lot of problems with hovering over icons, scrollbar sticking, highlight misbehavior.
The new driver seems peppier, but has many similar problems as the former version (.17).
