I have seen you Devices file and it reports you touchpad correctly. Doesn't matter though Horizontal scroll problems aren't related to kernel generally. I hope now you know how to how to get outputs from terminal. So, go ahead and type this in you terminal xev >~/xev.txt A small window will appear. Point you cursor in that window. Try to vertical and horizontal scroll, while keeping your cursor inside that window. Note that it is logging the mouse events of your touchpad, so do not perform too much unnecessary events, to prevent noise in the log file.
