@John: Yes, I'm running apache. I don't see a way for me to test Dino's bug 626723 on my Lucid machine. That bug appears to have a proposed fix for Maverick. Also, the suggested workaround doesn't make sense on Lucid --there is no "stty sane" line in my /etc/init.d/apache2.
