I tried editing the boot line from the grub menu and added plymouth:debug to the end, but then the boot just froze at the splash screen. I was unable to switch to another VT or find any way to get rid of the splash screen, so had to do a hard power off. It did, however, produce a debug log file, which I'm attaching.
