I experiense the same problem on my Asus X5dij laptop, which has also an integreted Intel 4 Series Express Video Card(Intel GMA 4500M) and Intel GL40 Chipset. My whole screen flickers. It is really unpleasent for my eyes. I can see the horizontal refresh lines. So I've tried to create a xorg.conf and to add a Modeline, as I believed that the problem is due to wrong Horizontal sync value. But I had no success and the problem still exists. I have also tried the kernel from the Comment #88 and to use i915.powersave=0, but neither solution was successful. I hope that someone will find a solution to this problem. Thanks.
