Sinds the nvidia driver version 256.44 randomly hangs at Xorg startup, there is no way I can determine whether a workaround works. Could that be caused by the nvidia driver version 256.44. I just read about freezes with nvidia driver version 256.44 in Arch Linux https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=102202 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=153875
