Dave, in my case noapic nolapic do not work - I experience a freeze after a few minutes.
Using either nohz=off or acpi_no_skip_timer seems to help. I haven't experienced any freezes in either case. I'm not sure if these options solve the problem, since I didn't run exhaustive tests, however after 13 hours of uptime there is no single freeze - no matter if I use compiz/wireless/wired network or not.
