As suggested by kurt belgrave , I have tried to change the kernel ( edited in the menu.lst in grub) and went to lower version.
Now there is no mouse cursor issue. Thanks to kurt belgrave for his multiple suggestions. With this simple work around , I am able to work in the system. Still I have one doubt. Now during booting, after the grub kernel selection, the initial screen shows some error messages but after that it boots normally and I am able to login, use the cursor, do the necessary things in the computer. Is it normal or I have to do any other modifications? I have captured the necessary error reporting files and sent to the bug tracking system for your reference. For this I have created one new bug.
