Please check if the problem is still present in the official release of ubuntu 10.04 and if it is please provide the general information requested at [1] as separate attachments. Also the files requested "In case some keys of your keyboard don't work (as expected)".
If your keyboard doesn't work at all you could use the Gnome On-screen Keyboard or ssh from another computer to execute the commands. thanks.
