Binary package hint: xorg
I don't know if this is the same or slightly different from bugs 503393
and 542603 also filed me relating to xserver freezes. Yesterday I was
working on thunderbird and the system froze. Today it had happened
again, again working on thunderbird.
The Xorg.0.log.old says one strange thing:

Yesterday, after searching around for this xorg message found a link
that suggested I should create radeon-kms.conf inside /etc/modrobe.d
with the line "options radeon modeset=0". I did this and also disabled
all desktop effects. But things froze again.
