@Cesare, this is quite interesting. I've got your very same error message if i *omit* the GdmXserverTimeout=60 setting instead, now that i'm trying i can't even boot anymore if omitting it, then i'll leave it as is for now: i could bet i'll need to revert that gdm.conf line in two weeks.
