I'm seeing a very similar issue: After upgrading to nvidia-current 195.36.15-0ubuntu3 from nvidia-current 195.36.15-0ubuntu2 my MacMini (GeForce 9400) fails load the nivdia driver. The driver seems to be present, but fails to load under X with the following error:
