** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg after upgrading intrepid->jaunty->intrepid, i had serious font problems on my thinkpad x31 (radeon mobility M6 LY), such that many paplications (openoffice, emacs, and others) didn't display fonts at all when run under non-gnome desktops. i've now wiped the drive and installed karmic clean; now the problem is partly fixed, but certain programs won't display fonts at all, even when run undergnome. the ost crippling of these for me is the goggles music manager, which uses the libfox1.6 toolkit. But the same problem is evident in the transient system messages (e.g. nm-applet's connected/disconnected messages, evolution's 'you have mail' bubbles).
