The xorg.conf file was created by the aticonfig --init command. The catalyst application is unable to set a virtual resolution and keeps hanging up. Overall the the functionality of the application is somewhere around 70% working on this machine.
If you want to close this bug I am fine with that. I can open up specific bug reports about the specific problems in the catalyst application.
