After an upgrade to lucid I had the same problem of black screen.Before the upgrade in 9.10 it would only resume once. on second resume I had black screen. I just installed 2.6.34 rc2 and it has resumed fine but it does not see my usb sound card so my headphones don't work. The usb mouse is working fine so it is not all usb devices affected
