...add me to the list for this bug, as well. Dell Latitude D400 with built-in i855 graphics. Running Linux Mint 8 (Helena), which is essentially Ubuntu 9.10 / Karmic with a few bells & whistles tacked on.
I will try the kernel boot parameter when I get home tonight, and report back here if it doesn't seem to temporarily resolve the issue for me.
