** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel After opening the laptop the screen didn't light up. I tried pressing keys and trying to move the cursor but I had to switch to a terminal with [ctrl][alt][f1] and then back to X with [alt][f7] to get it working again. at which point it prompted for my password to unlock. saw a crash report about intel gpu which should be what this bug report contains. Update: Alternatively I could just leave the computer for a while after reopening the lid, after 30-90seconds of a completely black screen X restarts. It might have done this when I tried switching with [alt][f1]etc and didn't notice and just assumed it had logged me out. It was as if the computer had gone in to hibernation or suspend at some point between closing the lid and opening the lid even though I've set Ubuntu to only blank the screen when the lid is closed on AC power. Update: Seems to be working OK now. Possibly due to a recent package upgrade, will update if it happens again. Update: It happened again. It's annoying because any programs I had open when I was logged in get terminated when x crashes/restarts/logs me out.
