You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: gnome-media
If you install nvidia-current but have no xorg.conf file, Lucid boots X using the nouveau driver. However, it also loads the nvidia module and when you run gnome-display-properties, it says that it appears your graphics driver does not support the necessary extensions to run this tool. It should work, though, since the nvidia module is not being used.
