Weird , this bug seems fixed in lucid with either update: vlc (1.0.4-2ubuntu2) to 1.0.5-1ubuntu1 or gnome-screensaver (2.29.90-0ubuntu1) to 2.29.91-0ubuntu1
Oddly , both the updates were on the same day while neither changelogs mention fixing this bug , But when watching movies with vlc the screensaver is now inhibited...
