You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: vlc
I've recently upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04. My problem appears to be with VLC 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1. When I launch VLC, either from the command line, from a menu, or by inserting a DVD, all text is corrupted, including in menus and dialogs. To the extent that I can use it, the app otherwise appears fine. No other application I have tried appears to have this problem. To make the issue clearer, I have attached a screenshot of the corruption. I'm glad to perform further investigations as requested, but I have no idea what might be causing this.
