Attached my xorg.conf, which worked for my resolution problems. It's quite basic and the HorizSync-line is set on a correct place. I'm not sure about the correct vRefresh-rate though (not sure about the HorizSync-rate either, as I understood, monitors have differences...) so you might want to remove that line.
For you knowledge, if you will not set HorizSync and vRefresh in xorg.conf, and the system doesn't recognize the correct values for your monitor, the system uses default rates.
