Hi Macarena, I fixed the black desktop by adding the AGPSize option in the device section of xorg.conf. My xorg.conf was automaticly configured during the upgrade, so you're second point does not apply to my case.
Meanwhile there has been some updates for the kernel, and also for mesa and DRI. So after the pc boots up I get KDM just like it should be, so this part is fixed now. But 3D is still not enabled with this card.
