The problem seems to be different since I'm not able to deterministically start my X even with above mentioned workaround.
The manually changed xorg.conf yields to the same X-window-not-working- handling. Neither trying to create a new config nor default low-graphics mode is working. A service gmd restart seems to work randomly - sometimes the screen remains black. Last dmesg output is: [ 64.086516] mtrr: no MTRR for f0000000,1000000 found After that I changed a section in my xorg.conf to: Section "Module" # Load "glx" # Load "GLcore" # Load "v4l" EndSection an rebooted. This yields to the same X-windows-not-working-screen. But now "Start ubuntu in low-graphics mode" is working. Maybe this problem is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274290 -- Regression: no X-Server working after current updates with ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491893 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
