When I say "I can't go past" I mean that I can't increase the resolution (for 16:9) past 1280x720 without having severely distorted graphics. When I do increase past 1280x720 all I see in large parts of the screen are smears of pixels. Some of the screen (the bars at top and bottom, evolution window) is normal though, which I find quite strange. X has not crashed. I can't read the firefox window, desktop background won't display correctly.
I tried the xrandr method of changing the resolution as you suggest with the same results as using System->Preferences->Display. Also, this happened with an upgrade from "Update Manager". If I boot from a live CD I can set the resolution to 1920x1080. -- Can't display 1920x1080, only as high as 1280x720 for 16:9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/472960 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
