Yes, get an account at bugs.freedesktop.org, and add yourself to the CC- field at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24789 .
I'm open to a better formulation. I previously only used "subscribe yourself to the upstream bug report" and that was sometimes misunderstood. Of course it would be nice if we could use the Launchpad OpenID at bugs.freedesktop.org, but I don't think that is possible, and it's not a big deal to get an account there. If you are asked something that you don't understand, you may ask for help here. That way we keep the upstream bug report more to the point.
