Following upgrade to kernel version 6.8.0-50-generic (from version
6.8.0-49-generic), a ghost monitor appears to be attached, which causes
the workspace to extend beyond the edge of the display. Note that this
is a laptop with no external monitors attached.

The behavior appears to be exactly the same for a recent bug in nvidia
drivers, but this laptop isn't using the nvidia driver that was fixed.

Seems to be the same problem as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2084046.
