I managed to reproduce the original "disp: ctrl 00000080" storm. It occurred after I installed ubuntu-desktop, configured GDM to auto-login and disable Wayland, rebooted, and finally set the display timeout to 1 second.
I'm fairly confident the hang can be resolved by cherry picking this commit: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/58ae5284f663f0856a13bc6caad93a0fe49d7cb4. I will build a kernel with this patch and see if it resolves the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2078011 Title: nouveau keeps showing `disp: ctrl 00000080` and crippling the system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/2078011/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
