This issue has sat with a status of 'Incomplete' for over three years now without any comment and did not expire due to the presence of a 'Bug watch'. Also the Ubuntu versions affected are all now out out of support so I'm closing the report as 'Invalid' as it no longer refers to any currently supported release of Ubuntu.
