Tried both options, neither allow me to get to the log in screen. Just a flashing underscore in top left of the screen. The ubuntu splash screen is seen after post but drops out to scrolling text there are some dependency warnings in a orangey brown colour.
I will screenshot and upload if it helps. It may just be that this model of laptop is too old.
