Technically, yes. Our detection rules try to give hybrid laptops the
Wayland option even if Nvidia is present. However in testing we
consistently found there was some kind of nondeterministic gdm3 bug that
broke it for hybrid systems. That remains unresolved but maybe it is
working for some hybrid laptops.

As for the Xorg config file issue, most of the open source community is
*trying* to move to 100% Wayland. So interest in Xorg development and
its maintenance has dried up. There are very few developers with the
time, skills or interest left to maintain Xorg.
