I took a look at the Xorg.0.log.old you attached. It appears that the host (your computer) is not seeing the monitor via I2C bus, and that's why it is not able to configure the monitor. It could be a hardware issue (monitor / cable / mainboard VGA connector). Before recommending installing the current development tip (OpenChrome DDX Version 0.6.315), your may want to figure out which one of them might be at fault. If you have another computer that has a VGA output, test the monitor and cable with that one to see if the hardware is working correctly.
