Dear Daniel, thank you for your assistance, unfortunately I cannot run anything when the display freezes. The system seems to run, since sound is playing, but the display does not update at all. I have to make a hard reset by pushing the power button for a while to get the system running again. However, it did not happen for a while now. I try to keep my system up to date, so maybe a kernel patch has fixed the issue. I will let you know if it happens again and try to disable shell extensions then.
