Bryce, thanks for the help, but the problem is already solved.
I just re-installed my beta 9.10 version and it worked (after a disk test, 
which recovered 1 file).
I think the problem occurred because, while using Karmic beta LiveCD, I tried 
to install the Nvidia drivers and, without rebooting, I installed the Ubuntu.
Now it's running perfectly. I'm going to install the "Nvidia accelerated 
graphics driver (version 185)" to test.
